Plot Helpers

Well, we here at Dying Light are always looking for creative people to help in Plot duties, and we thought we would give you a little guideline on what we expect, and what we need from a prospective Plot Monkey . . .err I mean Plot Member. (Oh hell, just insert crack smoking Plot Monkey whenever appropriate.)

First and foremost all Plot Members MUST be familiar enough with the rules to double as rules ref's. We feel this will allow you to work within the rules system, and help out the game by being able to answer simple questions on how things work. All Plot members must abide by the rules in the game as much as the players do.

Secondly, and no less importantly, all Plot Members must be well versed in the games Histories because no storyline is allowed to compromise the prewritten histories posted on the website. (This means no 'Gods' that come in and wipe out all previous histories, rearranging cities by 'throwing' them to another area on the Nexus, and whatever other kind of freakish ideas are out there.) The new and old players alike depend on those histories to help them create characters and write their own personal histories.

Third, Plot members must be familiar with the "Plot Bible". This is a little compilation of things that have and haven't worked in our past experience. Mostly it is a collection of obvious no-brainers that we prohibit because someone had to say it.

Fourthly, Plot members must be able to make it to the game regularly. Yeah we know, this is obvious as well, but once again, we had to say it.

Finally, we do think it is helpful to have some sort of experience running games, but this is not absolutely essential. We have found an incredible sense of organization is sometimes more helpful than past experience. Running a LARP is very different than running a tabletop. Sometimes it is much more limiting because you do not have the control to create fantastic scenes of unimaginable glory for a small group of characters. The simple truth is that you have less control as you send out NPC's, and they 'wing it' when players do something unexpected. This really requires a lot of creativity, and sometimes just going with it. We will often want prospective Plot Monkeys to work with the existing team as Lords or Ladies of the Lair so they can 1. They get the hang of it, and 2. We can find out if they are suited for it.

The best way to start on Plot is to start as a Lord or Lady of the Lair. This means that you probably won't be handling storylines and what not, but sending out a sometimes pre listed schedule of NPC's and Crunchies. It does help existing Plot Members to see what you're made of, and help you get experience.

Please contact the Plot department if you are interested in joining them in their efforts to entertain the Players by sending out death and destruction.
